Boys in the Wood

Russ took Levi on the annual boys' camp-out. This year they brought Levi's cousin, Drake, along and met up with friends for the first day. They traveled around the area to swim in hot springs, fish, and explore. My extended family gathered at the camp ground on the last day for swimming, hiking, s'more making, and reminiscing. My parents took my sisters and me to that same campground every year of our childhood. My heart swells to see Levi stomping around in the water, on the rocks, over the bridge, and up the trail that helped form so many of my fondest memories.
Luke will have fun joining the 'big boys' next year. I look forward to the day when Leif can join them, and I will have a quiet weekend on my own. We will add in a family camping trip within the next year or two.

Your picture make me want to take the kids camping, ... then I step outside in the heat and realize my tent doesn't have an air conditioner.

Heidi - wow! Those pictures are truly amazing! I have never been to your area of the country but those pictures make me want to hop on the next plane. Thanks for sharing. I am so jealous! :)

Thanks, all!

I think this particular spot is heaven on earth. :)

(And, Kevin, I am sooooo thankful that we live in an area with a moderate climate. :) It actually rained on the boys part of the time, and you'll notice that they have long sleeved shirts on in every picture. I don't do hot, humid weather well!)

My husband and I were just talking about the need to plan some outdoor excursions this summer--if you don't plan for it, the weekends can just slip away with chores and yard work and other everyday things, and we don't take advantage of the wonderful world we live in. Your post has strengthened my resolve!

Hi Heidi, can you tell me where that is? It looks wonderful and I am sure it is within driving distance for us. I am always searching for great places in the area. You can email me privately if you want to keep things private.
Thanks,
Susan
