The Princess Tower

Baby Nursery
Russ has been working like a crazy person on our little attic room, getting it ready for baby girl. (Thanks, Ron and Mom for helping out!) I have a few details to finish up, but it is ready for visitors (and an occupant... grin). Now that it is put together, I just want to stay up here forever...

Baby Nursery 2
My dad made the cradle for me when I was born. My mom painted the little yellow flowers on it (back in the day, she taught tole painting). The iron bed was my childhood bed. It now sports a colorful, fresh coat of paint. Russ recently found the white dresser at a garage sale and spiffed it up with a coat of paint and new drawer pulls. The raspberry chair was a thrift store find. The little bedside table was an antique/thrift store purchase of mine years ago. The old wooden desk was given to us by Russ's co-worker.

The color-scheme was inspired by wrapping paper (now origami cranes) and cloth napkins (now pillow covers and window valance) found on a girls' weekend in Portland with my sisters and mom back in April.

It looks so fabulous, as all pictures of your home decorating ideas always do! Love the sunny yellow color. It's totally feminine without being a pink/princess explosion!

It is darling! I had an antique desk like that when I was little. I think I might have painted it pink and I smuggled gerbils into my room and had them live in that desk for awhile ... until I got caught. The room is precious just like its occupant will be:).

It's lovely, Heidi! Makes me think of the nursery I had for my kiddos: those soft yellow walls and lots of vintage accessories! I'd love to create a nursery again one day:)

Heidi! It's adorable!!! What a little girl haven. Are your boys in awe? I love how you set up the little alcove. And with the big girl bed, desk, chair...she's set for life. :) Such a sweet space! Great job to all the hard workers!

beautiful, beautiful room!! You have one lucky little lady. It's the perfect little haven for her (and you!). what fun. I want to know where all the boys toys got stashed? :)

Elaine~ The boys want to be up there all the time. :)

Beth~ Do you see that funky (locked!!) door in the second closet alcove? It goes to the attic space where all but two of the toy bins are stored. If the boys want more toys, they have to (pick up and) exchange the two bins they have in their room. I was *so* sick of dealing with toy messes that they weren't willing to pick up!

Heidi, I have to echo the remarks of all your other "admirerers" - the room is beautiful. So bright and cheery. You two will enjoy being up there together. Is the carpet new? I can't wait to see it in November. Grandma

Amazing. You even managed to make the space seem larger. So cozy and girlie but not in that hot pink commercial way (which I am so sick of!) I love the quilt on the bed. Would you mind sometime posting some close up shots of your accessories like the cranes, dresser top, etc. --Like you have oodles of time for that sort of thing... :)

Oh wow, it's so so beautiful! I love the soft, dainty colors and how much lighter and open the room feels.

I can't believe how soon your baby girl will be here! I'm so excited for you!

I think it's amazing how you turned that tiny, cramped playroom into such a spacious (or so it appears to my eyes) area! Completely awesome room for #4.

Looking at Levi's reading list on the side, I'm seeing many familiar titles. I read a few of the Gregor books a while ago, and I was also rereading the Prydain Chronicles (The Book of Three series).

Heidi,

It's REALLY beautiful. I've never had much of a nursery; the baby has been in our room except for with baby #1 and #2, and there was no paint or much else. I don't have that big of a space. Yours is simply stunning. And HUGE. I love it. It's the perfect place for a girl's room, too. I'm glad you figured out how to make it work AND a solution for the toys.

It does seem to be missing an essential piece of furniture, though: a bookcase :) I do like the wall rack. I kept looking for the bookcase with lots of board books :)

I LOVE the pillows on the bed; they are simly beautiful. The whole thing is very lovely.
