I am so glad that you share how Lost Tools can add to beauty in our lives and schoolwork.

A small contribution to this great thread of examples...
We have a soft spot for author Gary D. Schmidt's stories (he's a local author who has written a few Newberry Honor books) . His descriptions are masterful!

Here's a section from one of my favorite passages of his, in "Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy" in which he describes the waves crashing on the coast of Maine below the story's protagonist, Turner, the new boy in town who seeks to prove himself by jumping off the cliff and into the surf:

Then the wave crossed where he knew he must jump and exploded into chaos, water avalanching in every direction, roaring at the sky, tormenting the rocks, and bursting into a spray that blotted out the sun.

And when the spray fell back in sheets to the following waves, it left Turner still standing on the top of the cliff, knees still flexed, toes still clenched.

I am simply smitten with the verbs in parallel form (avalanching, roaring, tormenting, bursting). And then he follows it up with the repetition of "still" as Turner was unable to work up the courage to jump. It is so involving to read!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08883210998899476060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5750282299627894194.post-37697703044859187782015-11-09T21:54:42.856-08:002015-11-09T21:54:42.856-08:00And thank you, Susan, for your lovely example of p...And thank you, Susan, for your lovely example of parallelism. ;) And I'm sure your boys will thank me, right?
