Here and There and This and That

~Saturday Seven (and a few extra for good measure)~

::I (and my family) spent an afternoon with Elaine from Know Myself, her husband Seth from Collateral Bloggage, and their son Ethan. I really love it when I can finally call wonderful blog friends real-life friends. Thanks for taking the time to visit, Elaine!!

::I spent hours on an addicting United States geography game (thanks a lot, Tera....).

::I'm ashamed to admit it, but I watch American Idol and adore Casey James. There. I said it. (Harry Connick, Jr. isn't too bad, either.) So very glad Aaron went home this week. I'm liking the top four.

::I'm suddenly feeling about 7 months pregnant. I'm measuring a couple weeks ahead, and after three 9 1/2 pound babies there is very little chance this baby is going to be a small one. Ultrasound in two weeks...

::I walked 5 mornings with my little sister again this week, and then an afternoon nature walk with my older sister (with kids). I think I actually got in my word quota this week. Grin.

::I love this book list: The Literature of Honor for Boys. Speaking of reading, how about this College Instructor's Advice To Parents of Middle and High Schoolers.

::I officially have baby fever. If you click on only one link in this post, let it be this movie trailer.

::After a long dry spell from reading, I started in on The Devil in the White City. And finished all 400 pages in two days. Do not stop by my house unexpectedly. It's not a pretty sight.

::I'm the last person in the world to watch The Blind Side. It was worth the wait.

::I love family time: last night at the swimming pool, this (gorgeously sunny!) morning at the local farmers' market (listening to live music and eating fresh-baked raspberry scones) and then the library.

::I have about 20 blog posts I've started but haven't taken the time to finish up and publish...

Though the circular round-and-round of routine be the bulk of life's affairs, make an occasional jutting diversion - of fun, love, or something that will outlast you - so the shape and motion of your life shall resemble the round lifegiving sun with bright rays shining forth from all directions.

Loved our time with your family! Thank you, thank you, thank you! :)

I think we have some more topics to cover next time we meet...I watch AI too and like Casey James, too. I'm glad to see how the top four have turned out. Lee is the one I'm just not sure I "get." I think I've only liked 2 of his performances, one of which was with Harry. (Like him, too!)

We haven't seen The Blind Side yet!!!

Enjoy the sunshine!

It is great to hear from you! Yes, that geography game is fun isn't it? (you're welcome, haha) I have not seen Blind Side yet, but hope to soon! I'd love to see your preggo self sometime...don't worry I will not drop by unexpectedly ;) ~Tera

I'm still rooting for Crystal!!!

And I'm glad *I* wasn't the last one to see BS (watched it last Sunday). So good ...

I'd so love to hang out with you and Elaine. I'm sure we'll be doing a Spokane trip this summer ... I'll try to give enough advance warning that maybe we can pull off a get-together! (y'know, the get-together where Elaine and I use you as the model to create awe-mazing maternity photos?!?)

Just found Devil in the White City in my library's catalog. Guess where I'm going tomorrow? ;-)

Just finished a delightful little book: The Magician's Elephant by K. DiCamillo. Highly recommend...

Nope, I'm that last person to see The Blind Side and I still haven't seen it yet.

Thanks for the links on reading. I can't wait to get the time to read them.

I'm reading The Help right now and it's hard to put down. I'm finding that when I do read such great books, my other jobs go by the wayside.

Enjoy your pregnancy! I have baby fever so badly... but alas, I don't think we'll be having anymore... so it's sweet to live vicariously through others.

Not sure what to comment on first!

I'm jealous of Elaine because I'd like to meet you in real life too:).

Devil in the White City - serial killer CREEPY, Chicago Worlds Fair ... fascinating.

We saw The Blind Side only recently! Cried. BOth of us.

My inner geography geek will click on that post and ...

well, (shhh) we watch AI too and I think this might be Casey's last week. But then again ...

Elaine~ I not sure about Lee simply because he hangs his head after every performance and looks miserable. This last week was my favorite of his performances, though.

Laurel~ Come on over. :)

Loved the duets on AI tonight! :) I agree...Lee doesn't look comfortable on stage to me. Crystal, on the other hand, is very comfortable! I love that Casey had never seen the show before because he doesn't have a TV!! He seems very comfortable in his own skin. I think it's going to come down to Lee and Crystal, though I wish Lee would be the one to go tomorrow.

Thanks for all the fun links. We enjoyed watching the movie trailer several times. Thanks for such a creative and informative blog. I enjoy the book lists!!

Elaine~ Yes, the duets were excellent! I don't think they've ever done that before. I agree that Crystal is an incredible artist and looks really comfortable on stage. The only thing is that I don't really *like* her voice. It can get a little harsh and whiny. And she doesn't open her eyes and connect with the camera much and too often is looking at her hand on her guitar....But that's just my humble opinion. :) I, too, think it is fascinating that Casey hadn't ever watched the show before auditioning. (And doesn't watch TV at all... how unusual.) Wowza was his guitar playing amazing last night! He'll probably go home tonight and I'll have to cry....
