Ideal World

I unconsciously decided that, even if it wasn't an ideal world, it should be. So I painted only the ideal aspects of it -- pictures in which there are no drunken slatterns or self-centered mothers -- only foxy grandpas who played baseball with the kids and boys who fished from logs and got up circuses in the backyard.

~Norman Rockwell

Yes. That's it exactly!

And that is why I adore Norman Rockwell's paintings. We might be visiting the NR Museum in Massachusetts next weekend. I'm so excited!

Aha, MFS! You caught me. (Sheepish Grin.) I *did* enjoy your post originally, and that quote has been reverberating in my mind since then. :)

I remember pouring over a book of Norman Rockwell paintings as a young person... at the time I had no idea how much his paintings would reflect my values. There is a book of Norman Rockwell paintings sitting on my Amazon wish list. I think I'll put it in my cart today. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Lindsey~ What a fun place to visit! Let me know if you make it, and if you enjoy your time there.
